Why use social bookmarking site?

Well, I could have won this SEO contest on Google, for one thing (I won at Yahoo, by the way). Some of the participant on that contest shared their secrets on building up links and taking their post on the top of the search engines - all that SEO techniques.

I even shared what I did and how I won on Yahoo!

I did several things on my blog for the on-page optimization (Title, H1 tag, alt, bold typeface etc.) and made several incoming links from other sites but what I did not do was submitting my entry on social bookmarking sites.

Why Submit Articles on Social Bookmarking site?

One reason only:

• Create Backlinks

For every page or article that you submit on these social bookmarking sites, you create for yourself a backlink. But take note though that Google treats links differently. Google gives a lot of weight coming from a website with higher Page Rank (PR). So, a link from a blog with PR4 is way better than a site with PR1.

Another thing to consider is the Do-Follow link. Not all social bookmarking sites are do-follow. Take Delicious for example, it is a no-follow site.

Also if you submit your blog posts to these sites, make sure that it can be indexed by Google. For that, you have to make sure that your submitted post are public.

In conclusion:

• Use Social Bookmarking site to create backlinks to your post
• Make sure that those links are do-follow
• Make your bookmaked post public
