This post is all about Googel Google, the number 1 ang biggest search engine of all… Googel.
The domain Google.com was officially registered on September 15, 1997. But did you know that the Google we know today was named accidentally?
Sean Anderson, one of the room mate of Larry Page and Sergey Brin (the guys behind the Google), suggested the name “Googolplex” and Larry shortened it up to “Googol”. (and nope, not Googel… that’s my mistake)
When Sean checked the Internet Registry if the domain name was available, he accidentally mistyped the word “Google.com”. Which was available. They liked it and the word stuck.
Geessh, what a multi-million blooper! Wonder if I would make the same mistake Googel Google did..

There are many stories, it seems.
I have read another one that goes like this:
“”
They decided to start the service under the name of “Googol” (that is 1 followed by a crore zeroes).
But, in a huge funsing they received, it was mistyped as google. Since they cant lose a big deal for juz a name, they decided for google”"
and thus google was born

I have heard many different stories similar to this one in the past. However, one element in this story that makes it improbable is that is says “googolplex” was shortened to “googol,” while both are actual terms for numbers.
Additionally, Google was first hosted with the name Google at google.standford.edu (see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Google#Early_history). That would mean they originally intended for Google to be the name, not Googol in my eyes, though there is a possibility of making an error as a project at Standard, though that seems very unlikely.
However, Google is undoubtedly a misspelling of googol, whether intentional or unintentional. Does anyone have evidence of Larry Page or Sergy Brin saying anything on the matter? A few quick searches gave me no solid results.
